What’s The Difference?

whatever-worksWhat’s the difference between right and wrong?  What’s the difference between having something and not having something?  What’s the difference between that thin line and whatever lies on either side of that line?  What’s the difference between asking a question and getting an answer?

I’m in an etherial mood for some reason…

When I’m warm I try to cool down.  When I’m cold I try to warm up.  Up, down, down, up. Do I ever seem to reach a temperature somewhere between that defines comfort and perfection?  Sometimes yes, and when that happens, it’s like the perfect harmonic pitch from a tuning fork.

I am unemployed right now.  Prospective employers see my resume and because of my lengthy experience at what I do, they don’t want to talk to me.  Because of that experience, they assume I want a six-figure salary (they don’t want to pay) and a limo to pick me up every morning to take me to work.  Trust me, I don’t want a job that pays that much because I don’t want to have to know the things that salary demands.  It’s stupid.  I always tell these idiots that it’s more important that I enjoy what I do every day and who I do it with.  If those two criteria are met, the salary will take care of itself.  Frustrating?  Yes.  Really stupid?  Yes.  Stupid beyond measure.  Recruiters think I’m crazy.

I don’t want to be rich, I just want to be happy doing what I do for a living!  Stop lumping me in with the capitalists and overpaid IT people!!

I dropped my cell phone the other day.  It was on a table outside, about five feet off the ground.  It fell into a bed of stones and landed face up. As it twisted and spiralled toward the ground during its descent it was like a slow motion video, frame by frame, each frame revealing more of the certain doom we knew to expect.  My wife gasped.  I didn’t even care.  Is that so wrong?

I don’t like using coupons when I grocery shop.  They’re a hassle.  When we go grocery shopping we get zillions of coupons when we check out.  The more dollars we spend, the more coupons we get.  We sift through them and keep the ones for things we actually buy.  By the time we go grocery shopping again, those coupons have expired. Sigh.

And another thing about grocery stores…when a new product comes out, many stores will test market that product.  Ten million times I have found a new product that I really like only to have the grocery store stop carrying it because the test market period ended and not enough people bought the product.  I invest four months of product loyalty only to have that carpet pulled out from under me.  I’m either extremely cutting-edge or I am an idiot.

I saw a video this morning of a recent interview Ted Nugent gave about gun control.  I’ve always liked Ted, first because he inspired me to live my life with conviction when I was a young rock and roll dude in high school.  The other thing I like about Ted is he has a clear head, has never done drugs, and he is extremely passionate about the whole gun control issue and people’s right to bear arms.  He is straight forward in his approach, no-nonsense, no beating around the bush and he’s not afraid to offend those who don’t understand the issue.  I agree with most of his view on that.  Unfortunately, many believe Ted is a lunatic because of how he expresses himself. Reel yourself in, partner!  It’s not Ted’s fault, he’s just passionate.  But because he’s not as mainstream as some of these other yahoos, he gets classified as a nutcase when in reality, he’s more correct in how we should solve the problem than anybody else.  The term “lost in translation” comes to mind. He’s a lot like Sarah Palin in that respect.

The power went out during the Super Bowl because we have an aging electric grid. So, the experts have all come out in the past two days explaining to our terrorist friends everywhere exactly how they can disable our entire country and bring down the free world.  I can’t stand it when the news bafoons have to yak their yakkers and explain everything in such detail. They end up educating those who want to hurt us as to how they can actually hurt us.  Thumbs down to you, American media (again).

Has anyone noticed how the number of suicide bombings in Baghdad have almost come to a complete stop?  I haven’t, either.  To reinforce the smiley face principle, news headlines from that part of the world shouldn’t be allowed to squeeze their way through our borders.  Maybe all we need to do is send Ted Nugent over there and solve that problem once and for all.

Where is there good news today?  Let’s see…well, Hillary’s going to run in 2016 assuming she can see straight.  Regular and wax statues of Lance Armstrong are being modified everywhere (not taken down, just “tweaked” a bit).  People in the Baltimore area finally have something to cheer about because politics ain’t gonna cut it.  And let’s not forget, the AKC has recently recognized two breeds worthy of their stead – the Portuguese Podengo Pequeno (joining the hound group) and the Chinook (becoming part of the working group).

BULLYS RULE!!
Ok Really, If You Don’t Think This Cane Corso Is Beautiful, Then, Well…

Even more exciting, bully breeds are moving up in popularity in this country.  I’d put my life in the hands of a Bullmastiff, Mastiff, Pit Bull or any other great dog with a big head any day of the week.

What’s the difference again?

That was a dizzying blog from the mind of a genius! It reminded me of the dissertation you wrote in my yearbook regarding the power of Gonzo rock.

    • Cassandra,

I’m not sure I would go so far as referring to me as a “genius”, but I won’t deny your compliment. I remember writing that dissertation, and I hope it still holds true to this day. The true powers of rock and roll are a force stronger than any army, nation, or national news broadcast.

Thanks for reading and sending along your comment!

Uncle Tedly rocks! Even when he’s not singing and playing guitar. And that dog is beautiful! And I hate the grocery store. Just sayin.
